Combining days with morning/noon/night

The words for today/yesterday/tomorrow can be combined with morning/afternoon/night to mean ‘this morning,’ ‘last night,’ ‘tomorrow afternoon,’ etc. Just say the day, then の (no), then the time of day

  • This morning = Kyou no asa
  • Last night = Kinou no yoru
  • Tomorrow afternoon = Ashita no hiru

This/last/next week/month

Week = しゅう (shuu), month = げつ (getsu). By attaching one of the following prefixes in front, you can say this/last/next week/month

  • This = こん (kon)
  • Last = せん (sen)
  • Next = らい (rai)

New particle: で (de)

で is used when the verb is being done AT a place. Here are some examples.

  • This = こん (kon)
  • Last = せん (sen)
  • Next = らい (rai)

Note that this is not the only way in the で particle can be used; there are other situations when the で particle is used, such as when you are describing a verb that is being performed using an object (えんぴつでかきます = to write with a pencil).
